Random Acts of Kindness
       "R.A.K 'Em Up!"

rak.jpg

Our Random Acts of Kindness program is designed to spread goodwill throughout the community in simple yet meaningful ways. Through initiatives like Candy for the Children, we bring smiles to kids by handing out candy, while Operation Dollar Drop surprises people with small cash gifts or gift cards at public places.

On Toll Day, we cover the tolls for random drivers, and with Surprise Lunch, we anonymously pay for meals at participating restaurants. Each recipient also receives a leaflet card to encourage them to pay the kindness forward and raise awareness.

The program will be funded through community outreach and corporate sponsorship and will be supported by a social media campaign encouraging community members to perform their own acts of kindness.

Participants are invited to share their experiences using the hashtags #Buenorang and #RAKemUp, inspiring others to join in and create a ripple effect of kindness throughout the community.

Join us in spreading joy, one random act at a time!

-Proposal for Random Acts of Kindness Program-

                                                  -Executive Summary-

The Random Acts of Kindness (R.A.K.) program is designed to spread goodwill and inspire kindness throughout the community. The program consists of various initiatives, including Candy for the Children, Operation Dollar Drop, Toll Day, and the, "Who says theres no such thing as a free Lunch?" program.

Buenorang, as well as members of the community, will anonymously provide small acts of kindness to strangers. By giving candy to children, covering tolls, paying for meals, and gifting small cash notes or gift cards, we aim to uplift people’s spirits and create a ripple effect of positivity.

The program will be funded through community outreach and corporate sponsorship, and it will be supported by a social media campaign encouraging community members to perform their own acts of kindness and share them using the hashtags #Buenorang and #RAKemUp.

                                                     -Needs Assessment-

In a world that can sometimes feel disconnected, simple acts of kindness have a profound impact on fostering community, boosting mental well-being, and creating a sense of belonging. Research shows that random acts of kindness can increase overall happiness and well-being, not only for the recipient but also for the giver (delawarepublic).

In Delaware, and across the U.S., communities often face economic challenges and social isolation, particularly in urban and suburban areas. According to recent data, many individuals report feeling less connected to their neighbors and communities (Biden School).

In response to these challenges, programs that promote social engagement and kindness have become essential for building strong, supportive communities.

By promoting small, meaningful interactions, the Random Acts of Kindness program addresses the need for increased social connectivity and spreads positivity throughout the community. The program also serves as a reminder that even small gestures can make a significant difference in someone’s day.

                                                    -Program Objectives-

  1. Spread Goodwill and Kindness: Create a culture of kindness by performing random acts of generosity that uplift individuals in the community.

  2. Engage the Community: Encourage community members to participate in acts of kindness through volunteerism and social media engagement.

  3. Raise Awareness: Increase awareness of the program and its impact through a social media campaign using the hashtags #Buenorang and #RAKemUp, where participants can share their own acts of kindness.

  4. Inspire Corporate and Community Support: Foster partnerships with local businesses and sponsors to help fund and promote the program, with businesses also being encouraged to perform random acts of kindness in their own communities.

                                                     -Program Structure-

1. Program Initiatives:

  • Candy for the Children: Volunteers purchase candy in bulk and distribute it to children throughout the day, brightening their day with a simple gift.

  • Operation Dollar Drop/Gift Card: Volunteers leave small denomination cash notes or gift cards at public places, such as parks, libraries, or stores, accompanied by a leaflet card promoting kindness.

  • Toll Day: Volunteers cover the tolls for random drivers at specific toll booths each month. Each recipient will receive a leaflet card, encouraging them to pass on the kindness.

  • Who says there's no such thing as a free lunch: Volunteers anonymously pay for the meals of random people at participating restaurants, along with a leaflet card promoting the R.A.K. campaign.

2. Community Engagement and Social Media Campaign:

  • A social media campaign will encourage participants and the wider community to perform their own acts of kindness, sharing their experiences online using the hashtags #Buenorang and #RAKemUp. The campaign will include stories of kindness, community highlights, and success stories from the program.

  • Community members will be invited to participate through various outreach events, and local influencers will be engaged to amplify the message online.

3. Corporate Sponsorship and Funding:

  • The program will be funded through a combination of community donations and corporate sponsorship. Local businesses will be encouraged to sponsor specific initiatives, such as Toll Day or Surprise Lunch, or donate supplies like candy or gift cards for Operation Dollar Drop.

  • In exchange, corporate sponsors will be acknowledged in social media posts and at public events, building goodwill within the community and increasing their visibility as supporters of positive social initiatives.

                                                -Outcomes and Impact-

The Random Acts of Kindness program will:

  • Increase Community Engagement: Inspire community members to participate in acts of kindness, either as volunteers or through individual acts shared on social media.

  • Promote Positive Mental Health: Studies show that acts of kindness can improve mood and mental well-being for both givers and recipients, fostering a more positive and connected community(
    delawarepublic).

  • Create a Ripple Effect of Kindness: Each recipient of a random act of kindness is encouraged to "pay it forward," creating a multiplying effect that spreads goodwill across the community.

                                             -Budget and Funding Model-

1. Corporate Sponsorship:

  • Local businesses and corporations will be invited to sponsor individual program initiatives (such as covering the costs for a Toll Day or Surprise Lunch) or donate items like candy, gift cards, or cash for Operation Dollar Drop.

  • Corporate sponsors will be recognized on social media, in marketing materials, and at community events, promoting their brand while supporting community initiatives.

2. Community Outreach:

  • Community members will be encouraged to donate or volunteer for the program, either through monetary contributions or by participating in the random acts of kindness initiatives.

3. Social Media Campaign:

  • The program will use platforms like Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter to engage the community and raise awareness, with content focused on sharing stories of kindness and promoting the program’s message. Posts will feature participants using the hashtags #Buenorang and #RAKemUp, encouraging others to get involved.

                                                 -Measuring Success-

The success of the Random Acts of Kindness program will be evaluated by:

  • Community Participation: Tracking the number of volunteers, social media posts, and hashtag usage to measure community involvement and program reach.

  • Acts of Kindness Completed: Monitoring the number of candy distributions, dollar drops, tolls covered, and meals paid for, as well as feedback from recipients.

  • Corporate Engagement: Assessing the number of businesses participating as sponsors and contributors, along with their continued support for future initiatives.

  • Social Media Engagement: Measuring the reach and impact of the campaign through engagement metrics such as likes, shares, comments, and the use of program hashtags.

                                                     -Conclusion-

The Random Acts of Kindness program offers a simple yet powerful way to create positive change in the community. By performing small, thoughtful acts of kindness, we can make a big impact on individuals’ lives while fostering a culture of goodwill and generosity. With the support of community members, volunteers, corporate sponsors, and a strong social media campaign, the Random Acts of Kindness program will inspire a ripple effect of kindness that spreads throughout Delaware and beyond.
